ABOUT EM

Hey, I’m Em!

Coming from a background of gymnastics, I have been exposed to the beauty of bodyweight movement since I was 4 years old. However, this also led me to have a difficult relationship with my body and, food and exercise, from childhood.

I embarked on my fitness journey whilst at high school, with the aim to become as small as possible. It was the text-book cardio bunny and under-eating approach, and I shortly found that it was not making me happy or healthy. I then discovered weight training, which I found empowering, and quickly switched to the other end of the spectrum, wanting to become as big and muscly as possible.

In the meantime, I graduated from university with a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science and both my Level 2 Fitness Instructor and my Level 3 Advanced Personal Trainer qualifications. It was during this time that I began to realise the importance of nutrition and exercise for health, irrespective of aesthetic body trends. I witnessed the BBL glute trend turn into a reappearance of “heroin chic”, and realised that the ideal of a perfect body is always changing. And that in fact a “perfect body” is the happiest and healthiest body for you. This made me realise that being fit and healthy doesn’t have to revolve around training to be a particular size. I fell in love with calisthenics and bodyweight training. Looking back to my gymnastic roots, and focusing on my performance was much more sustainable and made for a much happier, and more confident Em.

Since then, I have gained over 1000 coaching hours working as an in- person personal trainer. I have also gained an insight into women’s health with my recent Women’s Health certification.

I cannot wait to help more people ditch the scales and discover their true strength, and confidence.
